Born in 1978, Ben Shupe grew up sketching, drawing, and painting in Montana. His passion for visual storytelling led him to Chapman University in Orange, California, where he graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Film and Television Production with a minor in Graphic Design. Throughout college, Ben spent the summers fighting forest fires for the Helena National Forest. After graduating, Ben worked as a pre-pressman for Seabord Envelope Company in West Covina, California, and commuted to Burbank to study life drawing, illustration, and design at the Cartoonists Union, and at The Animation Academy. In 2004, Ben enrolled in the one-year immersion program in 3d Animation and Visual Effects at the Vancouver Film School in British Columbia. Ben has combined his training from film school, his illustration and design skills, and his childhood passion for telling stories, to produce an animated short: Jonny BlueJack, sasquatch hunter. Ben enjoys movies, books, weight lifting, drawing, and painting and aspires to collaborate with other artists to create entertaining and thought provoking stories through animation. |
